Moving Your Home-Based Computer Support Business? Tips To Help Your Move Go Smoothly

If you have a home-based computer support business that has grown and you are moving to a new building, you need to make sure you do everything correctly. This way you will not have any problems when you start setting up again. Below are some tips on how you can do this so you will be up and running quickly.

Hiring a Moving Company

The most important thing you can do is to hire a moving company. They likely have custom crating, as well as double wall corrugated containers for your computer equipment, such as laptops, data centers, servers, personal computers, modems, and more. You will need to have specialized packing materials, such as foam cushioning inside boxes, and bracing that can secure your boxes.

In some cases, the moving company can help you with the packing. They can then pick up everything for you and move it to your new location. All of this will make things much easier on you.

Packing on Your Own

If you would like to pack up your equipment on your own, you should still purchase the containers that you need from the moving company. When packing tech equipment, it should be placed in a box that is cushioned and should not move around at all. If the equipment moves too much, it can damage the internal components. You should put bubble wrap around each individual piece of equipment to give it even more cushioning and protection.

Keep the power cords with the equipment you are packing to make things much easier when you start unpacking. The last thing you want to happen is to have a bunch of cords mixed up. Mark each box so you know what they contain when you start unpacking.

Checking with your Internet Service Provider

If you are moving either in your town or a few towns over, you need to make sure your Internet Service Provider (ISP) services the area you move to. This is especially true if you have a contract with them, as if you break it this can be expensive.

If they do service the area, you should go ahead and place an order to have your service moved to your new location. They may have to install new cabling to get you set up. You may also need to change some settings on your network. If you are not sure what to change, ask the contractor to do this for you while they are there.

If you have any questions about moving your things, the moving company can be of big help to you.
